The Canary Islands are expanding their educational partnership with the Science and Technology Museum in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Schools within the state education system across all the Canary Islands are to make greater use of the «Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología» as a learning venue in future.

This is based on an extended cooperation agreement between the regional government and the organisation. The agreement has been published since Monday in the official gazette of the Canary Islands, the BOC.

The notice does not specify any particular schools, but is intended to create a range of options. Nor does it set out any maximum duration or budgets. These are determined by the Canary Islands Ministry of Education. The same applies to the start date.

The regional government regularly regulates educational and cultural projects on the islands through such decisions published in the Official Gazette. In the north of Tenerife, for example, a new vocational training centre in Icod de los Vinos is being built.

The education system in the Canary Islands has come under criticism in the wake of the latest PISA study. The Canary Islands have already made numerous improvements, but there is still some way to go.
