It is the best-known hotel in the Canary Islands. And the name sets high standards. At the „Hotel Botánico – The Oriental Spa & Garden“, everything revolves around the guests. And under the new management, they are set to feel right at home once again.
180 staff look after 252 rooms, four restaurants and thousands of guests every year. In addition, the lush garden with its own koi pond needs to be maintained. Its location next to the Botanical Gardens in Puerto de la Cruz sets high standards. So too do the name and aspirations of the Loro Parque Group, which aims to rank this five-star hotel amongst the world’s finest establishments.
To meet all these requirements, new management has now been put in place. Dirk Urban, a director of international standing, is taking up his post in the north of Tenerife. Urban has held senior positions within the hotel industry for more than two decades. And the Hotel Botánico represents a major challenge for him.

„It is a great honour for me to lead one of the landmarks of the hotel industry in the Canary Islands and to become part of a leading company such as the Loro Parque Group,“ said Urban on taking up his post.
Urban has moved to Puerto de la Cruz from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Prior to this, he was a co-founder and director of UP, a consultancy firm specialising in hotel and tourism management. His wealth of experience includes various management roles, including as director of several luxury hotels in Cancún (Mexico) and as regional director for the RIU chain.
The Loro Parque Group has announced that it is looking forward to drawing on this experience, as well as on its extensive expertise in areas such as consultancy and mentoring, quality control and cultural transformation.
