Of course, there are also numerous – and for the most part beautiful – beaches here, but the island’s geographical features mean that the north experiences more cloud cover and, consequently, higher humidity. The almost tropical conditions in summer allow thousands of plant species to grow and thrive in the north. They give this part of the island its ‚green character‘. No wonder that one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world is located here.
Over the years, the island has become a real tourist magnet. Every year, up to five million tourists spend their holidays in Tenerife, the largest of the 13 Canary Islands.
