Holidays in Tenerife

Holiday flats on Tenerife, from resort blocks to rural houses

Hundreds of apartments are let privately across the island at moderate prices, many of them just outside the town centres. The south leans towards nightlife, the north towards quieter stays and families.

Booking a holiday flat in Tenerife is one of the most affordable ways to explore the ‚Sun Island‘. There are several hundred holiday flats and apartments on offer in Tenerife. There are also numerous holiday homes, most of which are situated a little way away from the main population centres. Most of these properties are let by private landlords. Prices are generally reasonable. You can find our regularly updated special offers via the link at the end of the text.

Whilst there are many flats to let, particularly in conurbations such as Puerto de la Cruz in the north or Playa de las Americas in the south, larger holiday homes are usually situated a little way outside the town centres. Holiday homes for rent, on the other hand, are often available right by the sea or in the mountains.

The majority of holiday homes on offer in Tenerife are owned by local or German families. Since Tenerife’s tourism boom in the 1960s and 1970s, more and more Germans have settled in the Canary Islands. Since then, many of these expats have been supporting themselves in Tenerife by letting out flats and holiday homes.

Holiday flats on Tenerife: south or north?

A holiday flat, as an affordable alternative to a hotel in Tenerife, is particularly suitable for independent travellers who would like to explore the Canary Island on their own. Party-goers and those seeking action should head towards the south of Tenerife. Those who prefer a more relaxed pace or are travelling with children should consider booking in the north of the island.

To find the perfect holiday let, you should rely on online reviews. It also makes sense to book through major travel agencies. Whilst these are generally a little more expensive than booking directly, the properties are usually inspected before being listed and are also checked regularly afterwards. This usually means there are no nasty surprises, and nothing stands in the way of you relaxing in your own holiday let on Tenerife.
