Canary Islands airports: two metrics yield different frontrunners

In terms of average deviation, Santa Cruz de La Palma came out on top. Tenerife North achieved the highest on-time rate. Individual extreme outliers pushed up the average, whilst the on-time rate only counted departures within the 15-minute limit. So far this year, Santa Cruz de La Palma has led the way in terms of average deviation, whilst Tenerife North has led in terms of on-time rate.

Tenerife North also recorded the highest proportion of cancellations, at 1.5 per cent. An earlier analysis of the Canary Islands‘ airports had also placed Tenerife South at the bottom of the table over the Christmas period, whilst Tenerife North was among the most punctual airports in Spain.

The table contains the September figures for all six airports. The average deviation determines their ranking.
