This was announced in Friday’s edition of the Canary Islands‘ official gazette, the BOC. The text refers to three stages of work that build on one another: the recording, assessment and cataloguing of cultural heritage. The BOC does not specify which local councils are to be involved. Furthermore, the funding, deadlines and individual projects remain to be determined. The Island Council El Hierro is now set to provide clarity.

A joint catalogue will then also consolidate responsibilities that have hitherto been divided between the Island Council and the local councils. El Hierro is the smallest of the Canary Islands, so an island-wide inventory covers all the local councils in the area.
