Information on Tenerife

One island, many worlds: what keeps Tenerife interesting

From Loro Parque and the Siam Park to the trails around the Teide, the island shifts character within an hour's drive. What ties it together is the unhurried local attitude that rubs off on visitors within days.

The sun, the sea, the variety of places to visit and the range of activities on offer: certainly, Tenerife is thoroughly geared towards visitors from all over the world. However, it would be too simplistic to label this Canary Island merely as a tourist attraction.

Whether it’s a visit to Loro Parque or a day trip to La Orotava, Tenerife is a place just waiting to be explored. In the north, the rich variety of flora and fauna is a real fascination, whilst the south is the perfect spot for sun-worshippers.

Families will find plenty to keep the „little ones“ entertained at Siam Park, Europe’s largest water park, whilst those on longer holidays tend to settle around Puerto de la Cruz. And in between, around Mount Teide and the surrounding national park, there’s plenty on offer for climbing enthusiasts, mountain bikers and hikers. A drive from the south, through the mountains towards the north, is like a journey to another country.

Tenerife connects

The largest of the Canary Islands is far too multifaceted to be pigeonholed. And it is, above all, its inhabitants that make it so special. The Canarians have perfected the Italian way of life of years gone by. What requires a great deal of patience when waiting for a tradesperson’s appointment goes a long way towards helping you relax on holiday: ‚Live and let live‘ is not just a weekend catchphrase in Tenerife, but a way of life. And this attitude to life rubs off on visitors after just a few days in Tenerife.

This is probably also the reason why, in Tenerife, package holidaymakers and luxury yacht owners, all-inclusive enthusiasts and golfers, or expats and last-minute bookers strike up conversations – and, this is precisely what makes Tenerife so fascinating, they get on well together.

Whether it’s over a glass of wine in the bar round the corner or chatting across two tables in a café: Tenerife brings together people who would never meet back home.
